Anthony Beach is a rugged coastal strip near Smithton in Tasmania's far-northwest, exposed to the raw energy of Bass Strait. The beach is backed by farmland and coastal heath, with strong winds and dumping surf making it unsuitable for swimming but excellent for surf fishing and moody coastal walks. Birdlife is abundant in the nearby wetlands, and the dramatic cloud-streaked skies are a draw for landscape photographers.
