Back Beach near Denmark on Western Australia's South Coast is a dramatic, surf-lashed beach hemmed in by ancient granite headlands and towering karri forest. Part of the William Bay region, it draws experienced surfers chasing powerful swells rolling in from the Southern Ocean, and photographers captivated by the rugged coastal scenery. The rocky outcrops provide excellent snorkelling at low tide in calmer conditions.
