๐Ÿ“– About Chinamans Beach

Chinamans Beach (SH 19) lies just 500 m south of the Spit and is a very different environment. The 230 m long beach faces northeast and is bordered by rocks and rising slopes at each end. The beach fronts a small partially filled valley, with the flat grassy area behind the beach, formerly a Chinese market garden, now occupied by 3 ha Rosherville Park. This is a popular recreational park with the surrounding locals as well as visitors. However parking is limited and you need to be early in summer to obtain a relatively close parking spot. The park provides amenities and shade, while the beach receives usually low wind waves. Be careful if swimming as the beach slopes into deep water.
