Long Beach is a sheltered east-facing beach on the River Derwent foreshore in Sandy Bay, one of Hobart's most prestigious suburbs. Stretching just 150 metres, it offers calm waters with a sea pontoon and is patrolled by Surf Life Saving Tasmania, making it popular with families, swimmers and recreational paddlers. The beach sits alongside the Sandy Bay Sailing Club and a short stroll from Lower Sandy Bay's shops and cafés, with a rich history of regattas and horse races dating back to early colonial times.
