📖 About Merry Beach
To the south of O’Hara Head are the last two beaches (NSW 397 & 498) accessible from the Kioloa road. Between 30 m high O’Hara Head and 50 m high Snapper Point is a 650 m wide east-facing rocky bay, with 400 m long Merry Beach (NSW 497) tucked into its far western corner. Houses dot the northern slopes overlooking the beach, while a car park, park and caravan park back the entire beach. The beach faces due east out of the bay and receives waves averaging about 1.2 m against the northern rocks decreasing to the south. The waves maintain an attached bar which is only cut by 1-2 rips during high waves, particularly toward the northern end.
