Clifton Beach is located about 30 minutes southeast of Hobart, facing southeast into Storm Bay and exposed to powerful Southern Ocean swells. It is one of Tasmania's most popular surf spots, offering consistent left- and right-hand beach break waves averaging 1–1.5 metres, though strong rips make it challenging and it is considered one of the state's most demanding beaches. Dog owners will find it welcoming off-leash, and the Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club patrols on weekends and public holidays over summer.
