Portsea Front Beach is the calm, sheltered bay beach at the exclusive tip-of-the-peninsula township of Portsea, facing Port Phillip Bay about 95 kilometres south-west of Melbourne CBD. In contrast to the wild surf of the Portsea Back Beach on Bass Strait, the Front Beach offers gentle, protected swimming in clear bay water from a stretch of sandy foreshore that has been a playground for Melbourne's well-heeled since the 1850s.
